Future Projects

Future recordings 2014/15:

FHR are thrilled to announce we will be recording an exciting disc of rare Shostakovich chamber music featuring the phenomenal Russian violinist Sasha Rozhdestvensky & pianist Jeremy Menuhin. The disc will include a number of CD first releases and a premiere recording – details announce later.

FHR are delighted to announce that The Flautadors recorder quartet will be recording for us in September 2014. Their last three CDs have all received critical acclaim. Repertoire will be announced shortly.

Violinist Vaughan Jones will be recording a disc of rare baroque music for solo violin. Repertoire will be announced shortly.

WINTER 2013 onwards:

First Hand Records are honoured to be able announce that the reknowned cellist Rohan De Saram will be recording a series of albums for us. These will consist of 2-3 CDs of contemporary works for solo cello, most of which were either written, dedicated, or premiered by Rohan De Saram. There will be a number of premiere recordings being made in this series. The recordings start in December 2013 and carry on throughout 2014. Details of works to follow.

Rohan will also  record for FHR with the great UK pianist Benjamin Firth in Spring 2014. The album will contain the following works:

Brahms: Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 1 (arranged for cello & piano), Op. 78

Ivor Keys: Sonata for Cello and Piano

Sibelius: Malinconia, Op. 20

 

 


SUMMER 2013 onwards:

FHR are very excited to announce that UK violinist Vaughan Jones will soon be recording for First Hand Records, focusing on rarely heard or previously unrecorded/unpublished solo violin works. These pieces will consist of music from the baroque period right through to the 20th century. This new ongoing series of recordings, will also see Vaughan record more standard repertoire works for solo violin.

They will all be available on CD, MP3 and hi-resolution downloads.

FHR are pleased to confirm they will release a number of recordings featuring the renowned sitarist Pandit Subroto Roy Chowdury. The recordings will be issued under a series called “The Pandit Subroto Roy Chowdury Series”.

All the recordings will be released as MP3 downloads only, available from iTunes, Amazon etc.

First set to be issued will be:

FHR will issue an interesting recording of the great British violinist Ralph Holmes. The recording features Ralph playing a reduced-score version of John Mayer’s Violin Concerto. This will be a digital download release only (will be available in MP3 & Hi-Resolution).


The spectacular jazz pianist and composer Steve Tromans will be recording for FHR very soon. These recordings will be issued as a digital download only (will be available in MP3 & Hi-Resolution).


A brilliant live recording of the influential sitarist Pandit Debuji Chauduri will appear on FHR Remasters in the Summer. This recording was made in Birmingham in 1999 and also features Debuji’s sitarist son Prateek Chaudhuri & Somnath Mukherjee on tabla. This recordings will be issued as a digital download only.


The British pianist Alison Farr will record for FHR early in 2014. She is an excellent pianist who has won many competitions including the piano section of the BBC Young Musician of the Year final. This will be released as a CD and digital download (will be available in MP3 & Hi-Resolution).
