FHR are excited to announce that they will shortly be releasing a number of previously unheard rehearsal studio recordings featuring saxophonist Joe Harriott with John Mayer’s Indo-Jazz Fusions. The recording  includes a piece not featured on any of the Indo-Jazz albums.

A one-off LP was produced after these recordings were taped at the end of the 1960s, which has been in the hands of the John Mayer estate ever since. The transfers for these FHR remastered recording were made using this LP.

The tracks will be available for MP3 digital download only [FHR21D].

This legendary Irakere concert will be released on FHR Remasters on 15 April 2013, in the band’s 40th anniversary year. The 1995 concert at Ronnie Scott’s, Birmingham was originally broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 and will available on CD for the first time. This is Irakere at their very best as an Afro-Cuban jazz ensemble, appealing to both jazz and dance fans.

Founded in 1973, Irakere were one the most exciting and influential Cuban latin jazz bands. Past members of the Grammy award winning group have included some of the best Latin jazz musicians in the World, including trumpeter Arturo Sandoval, saxophonist Paquito D’Rivera and pianist/director Chucho Valdes.
